PADI Assistant & Instructor Development Courses (IDC)

PADI Assistant Instructor Course (4 days)

The foundation of PADI instructor development is the PADI Instructor
Development Course (IDC). The program consists of two parts-the
Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor
(OWSI) program. Combining the AI course and OWSI program makes up the IDC.

Successfully completing an AI course allows instructor candidates to
earn the PADI Assistant Instructor rating which authorizes them to
function as instructional assistants and independently conduct certain
PADI programs. AI course completion also qualifies candidates to
participate in an OWSI program.

Candidates who are already certified as PADI AIs are invited to do their
IDC at the reduced OWSI price.

PADI IDC - Instructor Development Course (9 days)

We believe we offer one of the finest instructor training programs
available today. Our IDC provides a professional learning experience in
which you will learn how to teach diving utilizing the most successful
program in existence. Not only will you learn how to teach in the
classroom, pool and open water environments, you will also learn how to
effectively use all PADI's teaching aids and support materials.

Our Instructor Training program is intense, fun, demanding and exciting
all at the same time. Candidates have fun; make new friends and share
rewarding life experiences while earning some of the most coveted
credentials in the dive industry.

The new IDC begins with independent learning and encompasses both the
Assistant Instructor (AI) course and the Open Water Scuba Instructor
(OWSI) program. Prior to the start of the new IDC the candidate must
complete all 16 IDC Knowledge Reviews from the IDC Candidate Workbook.
This may be accomplished by self-study or through staff led pre-course
sessions. See our IDC Page

When you complete the IDC, you will have been trained and prepared to
successfully attend the PADI Instructor Examination (IE). This is the
final step toward your Open Water Scuba Instructor certification. You
will also be equipped with an excellent understanding of the diving
industry, scuba course promotional techniques, progressive instructional
methods and state of the art diving information.
